Another successful year for Meet in Scotland!

Meet in Scotland, one of VisitScotland Business Events' flagship events, was held in Edinburgh where the Business Events team facilitated nearly 500 speed networking appointments in one day between 25 Scottish partners and the same number of event planners from the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The two-day event also showcased the region’s top suppliers to UK and European event organisers, featuring local food & drink, entertainment and venues, before embarking on familiarisation trips to key event destinations throughout the country.

This year’s event was held in Edinburgh on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 September, with a networking dinner at the Signet Library on the Royal Mile then an overnight stay and appointment-driven workshop at the newly renovated Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square.

On Thursday evening the networking dinner saw guests being taken on a walking tour, before being greeted by a fire and drums spectacular from Beltane outside the Signet Library. After the drinks reception guests enjoyed a clan-themed dinner on a long banquet table strewn with candles and tartan. Caterers Heritage Portfolio pulled out all the stops, while costumed actors from Mercat Tours and the Scottish Ceilidh Band kept everyone entertained.

Friday morning commenced with a destination presentation and then the workshop began. 20 appointments in one day, 15 minutes each, gave UK and European event organisers plenty of opportunity to discover what Scotland has to offer.

The day finished on a high as everyone enjoyed a cool Aperol Spritz, they were surprised by a group of 45 singers from Pitchcraft. The choir performed a lively Scottish medley, serenading the buyers as they headed off on three action-packed fam trips to discover more of Scotland.
