V&A Museum of Design Dundee

More than a decade after talks began, the V&A Museum of Design in Dundee is to open its doors this year! A long anticipated development, this £81 million investment is part of a wider plan to completely regenerate Dundee’s waterfront. Although the V&A is set to open in 2018, Dundee’s waterfront regeneration is set to continue until 2031. The 30 year regeneration project will span 8km alongside the river Tay, and other changes will include a new green space for large scale exhibitions and events, as well as two new hotels, converted from former Jute mills. Dundee is the first city in the UK to be awarded a UNESCO City of Design status and its new museum will ensure the city lives up to its title. Perched beside the water, the modern, imposing structure could resemble a futuristic boat about to set sail. Designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the V&A will have more than 1500 square metres of gallery space, making it an extremely flexible venue for conferences and other events. With catering by Heritage Portfolio, we’re excited to see the dynamic, innovative events that are sure to soon unfold!

Fingal

Launching in 2018, a new £3.5million development, Fingal, a former Northern Lighthouse Board ship begins an exciting new chapter – a first for Scotland’s hotel sector. Due to be permanently berthed in Edinburgh’s historic Port of Leith, Fingal’s unique nature, coupled with a crew delivering ‘best in class’ customer service, promises to create memories guests will treasure forever, whilst they experience the city from its shores. This major investment by the Royal Yacht Britannia’s trading company, Royal Yacht Enterprises, will provide the ultimate in luxury. The 23 beautifully styled cabins, all named after Stevenson lighthouses, are inspired by Fingal’s rich maritime heritage. This 237ft long ship will also provide an exciting new events venue for the city. The spectacular double height ballroom seats 80 guests and features a moveable skylight (large enough to lower a car through). Fingal can be exclusively yours - making it the perfect space for brand and product launches, and private celebrations. Whatever the occasion, the ship, its mooring, crew and cabins will evoke a sense of adventure, and provide an escape from the everyday. A secure city haven, with the finest of foods, festivals, history and heritage just moments away.
