Selling Scotland as the Ultimate Reward

Business Tourism Trailblazers event starts

Forget London, Monaco, New York and Paris, VisitScotland is preparing to welcome leading incentive buyers to Scotland to showcase the crème de la crème of Scottish hospitality.

In total, 55 of North America’s leading meeting and incentive organisers are to visit Scotland as part of the internationally renowned Trailblazers event.

For the first time in the group’s 19 year history, Trailblazers will be held in Scotland having previously visited Monaco, Copenhagen, Dublin, London, Montreal and Toronto.

The group, made up of senior meeting planners and site selection decision makers, will meet with a number of Scotland based business tourism suppliers to highlight what Scotland can offer the meetings and incentive market.

The conference features events taking place throughout Edinburgh and Stirling, including the newly refurbished Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Stirling Castle, the National Scottish Museums, Signet Library and the iconic Royal Yacht Britannia.

Neil Brownlee, head of VisitScotland’s Business Tourism unit said: “The stage has been set for international buyers to experience Edinburgh through the Trailblazers programme.

“As an annual participant in this marketplace, VisitScotland, as this year’s host, has established a programme tailored to these elite attendees, while showcasing Edinburgh’s luxurious venues, engaging environment and heartfelt hospitality.

“Business tourism is integral to driving the Scottish economy forward. It supports a range of businesses and creates a ripple effect that impacts on everything from conference centres to coach companies and florists and design agencies to audio visual companies, highlighting the importance to Scotland.”

The economic value of business tourism to Edinburgh is in excess of £300 million per year.

In addition to the Edinburgh and Stirling events, guests will also have the opportunity to visit Turnberry Resort and play Britain’s top ranked golf course, the Ailsa.
