Selling Scotland at the BNC Global Event Show

The Business Tourism Unit’s (BTU) UK Marketing Manager, Lindsay Brown, recently attended the second edition of the Buyers’ Networking Club (BNC) Global Event Show. The event took place at The Brewery, London from 20 - 21 February and Lindsay was accompanied on-stand by Emily Shields of the Royal Yacht Britannia.

The Buyers’ Networking Club is a networking association for corporate meetings and events managers, creating a community for event professionals to share information, ideas, experiences and recommendations, aiming to assist them with the day-to-day planning of their events. As Europe’s biggest club for corporate event managers, it provides a strong platform for the BTU to showcase Scotland to its target market.

Lindsay and Emily arrived at the two-day event and were firstly tasked with setting up their small stand to maximise use of the space. This event takes a slightly different approach to that of similar events by veering away from shell schemes, creating an open feel with an aim of easing conversations during the event, hence the smaller space allocated to each exhibitor.

The event was impressively organised with all buyers in attendance carefully considered by the organisers prior to approval. This may have consequently reduced footfall but in turn ensured that all conversations which took place were of a high quality, providing the opportunity to engage with serious buyers who knew what they were looking for.

This was the first time the BTU had attended this event which proved to be a great success resulting in a number of strong new contacts. With the show proving to be valuable time well spent out of the office, it looks set to be a permanent addition to the BTU event calendar.
