A Taste of Scotland

The national tourism organisation’s Business Tourism Unit (BTU), along with seven Scottish partners, were among the 300-plus exhibitors at Olympia on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 March, showcasing the very best the country has to offer in 2014 – the Year of Homecoming, the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and The Ryder Cup at Gleneagles.

VisitScotland was joined on stand by Edinburgh International Conference Centre, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Glasgow Science Centre, Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, (Glasgow), The Dome (Edinburgh), The Royal Highland Centre (Edinburgh) and AmaZing Venues. They all showcased the very best of the Scottish MICE product and highlight the credentials Scotland has to be the perfect host for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and The Ryder Cup.

Hospitality at the stand was courtesy of the Oyster Boys and Famous Grouse’s brand new ‘Roving Drammolier’ whisky-tasting service, which made its debut at Confex. VisitScotland also ran a competition on stand where one lucky winner can win a bottle of Black Grouse Alpha.

Mihri Miralem from the VisitScotland BTU said: “With plenty of new Scottish MICE developments and more than 700 Homecoming events taking place this year, we offered people the chance to discover the inspiring destination that is Scotland. Confex provided us with an excellent platform on which to demonstrate our famous hospitality and the warmth of our welcome.”
