Fife in the driving seat of business

Coventry-based Conference Care, which won the gold award for Best Intermediary Agency at the recent M&IT Awards in London, sponsored by VisitScotland, went to Knockhill Racing Circuit as part of a “Feast of Fife” familiarisation trip, where they were taken for a spin round the track by British Touring Car Championship driver Gordon Shedden.

Organised by VisitScotland’s Business Events team and Fife Council, the three-day tour of the region also featured a visit to Fairmont St Andrews, where they took a spin in golf carts – complete with personalised registration plates – to celebrate their awards victory.

The group’s visit began with supper and an overnight stay at Garvock House, Dunfermline.

The six-strong group then headed to Knockhill to appraise the facilities available for groups before taking to the track themselves.

St Andrews was next on the agenda, where the group dined at Forgan’s restaurant and then enjoyed a whisky-tasting session at Kingsbarns Distillery.

Other businesses featured on the fam trip were:

Macdonald Rusacks Hotel
Rocca St Andrews – home of Masterchef: The Professionals winner Jamie Scott
Hotel du Vin
Rufflets Country House Hotel
Kinkell Byre

Amanda Ferguson, Meetings and Incentives Marketing Manager at VisitScotland, said: “Fife has a huge amount to offer in terms of its unique venues, a brilliant array of outdoor activities and excellent places to eat and drink. Familiarisation trips are an excellent way for leading event organisers to experience the Kingdom first hand and, in the Year of Food and Drink, it was the perfect time for this award-winning company to enjoy a feast of Fife.”

Councillor Lesley Laird, Fife Council’s Depute Leader, said: “Fife is an ideal place to hold conferences, meetings and events.  With such a fantastic selection of quality venues, ranging from purpose built conference facilities to historic houses and more out of the ordinary options. Fife’s venues are backed up with quality accommodation and fantastic food offerings, easy access to main airports, road and rail links, and a fantastic range of attractions and things to do with any free time!”

Pippa Wells, Events Consultant at Conference Care, said: “We had the best weekend ever! The fam trip was amazing and we had fabulous fun in Fife. It was very educational, not to mention entertaining.”
