Business events are vital to Scotland as we welcome thousands of delegates a year to our cities and towns. Business events bring knowledge and expertise into our country and we work with partners across the Scottish public and academic sectors to ensure that every event coming to Scotland can engage with our world leading knowledge economy.

The VisitScotland Business Events team works with Scottish partners to promote Scotland, to develop and support events and to maximise legacy. We are also a key point of contact for anyone considering Scotland, offering free and impartial advice we can connect you with the venues and suppliers you need to make your event shine.

Each Business Events team member is responsible for specific business markets or disciplines and can assist with queries. The Business Events team is here to assist you with any queries you may have.

Neil Brownlee

Head of Business Events

Neil is in charge of the strategic direction of business events at a national level. He works closely with our city conventions bureaus, the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and other public sector agencies to firmly align business events with Scotland's ambitions.

Rory Archibald

Senior Business Events Manager

Rory is responsible for driving the strategy for VisitScotland Business Events across all markets as well as overseeing marketing and PR for the department. Rory directs signature strategies across the team including the Business Events Government Engagement Framework, the Policy Driven Model and the Transformation Protocol, ensuring that every event has positive impact across Scotland's communities, academia, growth sectors, third sectors and government policy.

Lindsay manages the highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic corporate and incentive team.  A key focus is developing strong opportunities and platforms for UK & European MICE agents, corporate planners and decision makers to meet Scotland's excellent MICE suppliers, generating enquiries and confirmed business.

Fiona MacKinnon

Assistant Manager – Associations & Sectors

Fiona's role is primarily to inspire associations to hold their events in Scotland through proactive sales activity and promotion of the country as a conference destination. Fiona aims to attract events that benefit Scotland and where she has local expertise on the subject matter. She also works with Scotland's key sectors organisations, facilitate introductions and highlights Scotland's strengths.

Sian is assisting to bring national and international association conferences to Scotland. Sian's wider role within the team involves the implementation of sales activity, researching association congresses and working with Scottish industry and key sector organisations. She is also supporting with the administration of the National Conference Bid Fund.

Also, lead on the creation and management of brand standards across all client and stakeholder touch points.

Business Events Policy Engagement Manager

Patrick works across the team to support the implementation of key strategies into market focused activities to help drive business events development in Scotland. Patrick leads on the Transformation Protocol and provides support in policy alignment across all business events activities including the Policy Driven Model and the Government Engagement Framework. Patrick manages the National Conference Bid Fund and the Scottish Association Survey.
