Press Trip Explore the Wonders of Natural Scotland

The Business Tourism Unit (BTU) recently welcomed European and North American journalists, from leading MICE publications, to Scotland. The extensive 5-day press trip was part of the Year of Natural Scotland programme highlighting the perfect marriage of Scotland’s natural beauty and MICE offering.

The extensive trip took the journalists from the remarkable West Coast, to the shining East Coast, from the Burrell Collection and stunning Pollok Country Park to the exclusive Royal Yacht Britannia. The versatility of Scotland’s MICE product and scenic charm featured throughout with a scattering of wildlife sightings too!

The group ventured to the Isle of Bute, dining at Mount Stuart, experiencing a grand behind-the-scenes tour of the venue and a rather exciting Ranger tour of the grounds. They then travelled to the impressive Portavadie Marina, sampling the striking surroundings, culminating in an exhilarating demonstration of Scotland’s whisky.

Timeless elegance was also key with a surprise second part of their journey, to Loch Lomond’s Cameron House, taking place in classic vintage cars. This visit was followed by a tour of the majestic Edinburgh Castle and Hotel Missoni.

The group then explored East Lothian’s luxurious Archerfield, Gosford House and Carberry Tower amongst rounds of golf, fat biking (bikes with large tyres suitable for sand and snow), coastal walks and a lavish gala dinner. They even toured around the EICC and Sheraton, culminating with delightful company at the exceptional Royal Yacht Britannia, followed by dinner at Kyloe and a sound night’s sleep at Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel.

BTU’s Richard Knight concludes, ‘the Year of Natural Scotland Press Trip provided a perfect platform for us to highlight and promote many of Scotland’s USPs, including tradition, hospitality, exclusivity, luxury and activities. Not forgetting outstanding natural produce!’
