VisitScotland Wins Best UK Conference & Incentive Destination Award

We were delighted to be announced as “Best UK Conference & Incentive Destination Marketing Team” at the C&IT Awards in London on 27th September.

C&IT refers to the magazine Conference & Incentive Travel, one of the most influential MICE industry publications focusing on the UK and Europe.  Consequently, these awards are highly regarded by industry and of note to buyers and suppliers alike.

The award is presented to the UK destination marketing team that has flown the flag for their country or region to the fullest.  Entrants had to submit three clear examples of their best work carried out to promote their destination to the UK Conference & Incentive market, including details of standout campaigns and events, return on investment for clients and testimonials.

Our submission highlighted the best of our efforts to showcase Scotland at its best, focusing on flagship event Scotland Means Business, Scotland on Tour and our activity during the 2012 Olympics, as well as our on-going programme of activities.  We were the messengers in these situations however, and huge congratulations have to go to the Scottish venues and service providers who consistently deliver a high quality experience and truly warm Scottish welcome to conference and event organisers and their delegates.

Neil Brownlee, Head of Business Tourism, commented: “This award puts us in an excellent position leading into 2014 and beyond.  It provides further evidence of the continued high quality of marketing activity that we deliver, not only to professional conference and event organisers, but to Scottish industry partners.  There is a constant drive from the Business Tourism Team to provide a wide-ranging programme of events to suit varied needs and budgets of Scottish suppliers, as well as delivering a ‘wow factor’ for conference and event planners.

Over the past year, the eye-catching success of the National Bid Fund has always got the headlines, so this award is particularly gratifying recognition of what you could call our ‘day job’.  Feedback received from industry and buyers alike, shows consistent excellence in event delivery and our commitment to showcase the best that Scotland has to offer this demanding and discerning audience.”

Visit Belfast also received an award in this category for their work at a city level.
