Event UK 2009

Event UK 2009

Event UK took place on 22nd - 23rd September at Birmingham’s NEC bringing together around 300 exhibitors including destinations, venues and event service suppliers.  VisitScotland's Business Tourism Unit were in attendance with stand partners Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries and Macdonald Hotels.

The event was a great success despite taking place amidst the deepest recession for decades which proves that the industry is resilient and committed to maintaining high standards and continues to be innovative come what may. According to Duncan Reid, Event Director - “Despite depleting budgets, events remain high on the business agenda as one of the most sure ways to gain ROI, staff engagement and brand awareness.

In terms of figures Event UK was 7% up on visitors to the event, which is a great achievement in these times; total attendance including exhibitors this year hit 3,688 (organiser's statement subject to audit).”  These figures place Event UK as the biggest show outside of London – and the primary show for the UK events industry.  Other positive news from the show was another first class education programme which filled the seminar rooms for each session, including an enthralling keynote address by Harvey Goldsmith and one of Britain’s highest profile female entrepreneurs, Rachel Elnaugh founder of Red Letter Days.

Event UK 2010 will take place again next year from 21st - 22nd September 2010.  To register your interest in joining VisitScotland's Business Tourism Unit as stand partners next year please contact Kerry Watson.
