Hilton Dunkeld, November

Autumn’s Scotland Means Business took place on the 11th and 12th November 2009 in the glorious Perthshire region.  International buyers and press were welcomed to the event from the United States, India, Germany, France, Spain and the UK, and also participated in one of our 6 familiarisation trips discovering more about nearly 60 different venues across the country.

The Scotland Means Business event kicked off with a welcome lunch for all delegates at the magnificent Hilton Dunkeld hotel followed by an intense afternoon of networking at the hotel with over 400 face to face appointments taking place between buyers and Scottish suppliers.  The workshop was the perfect opportunity for buyers to establish important contacts with Scottish suppliers and discover more about the unique and diverse Scottish offering for meetings, events, incentive travel and corporate hospitality.

Stunning Blair Castle, dating back to the 13th century, was our location for the gala dinner with a delicious Scottish-themed dinner served in the historic grand ballroom by Prestige Scotland.  A lively and entertaining twist on traditional Scottish entertainment was provided by Macumba, with Iain Buchanan’s Ceilidh Band leading guests in a number of highly enjoyable ceilidh dances.

Our activity day on the 12th of November was headed up by Highland Safaris giving participants the chance to experience the thrill of off-road driving whilst taking in the beautiful Perthshire countryside in cosy 4x4 vehicles.  The group also had a tour of Dewar’s World of Whisky and learnt about the whisky’s heritage as well as taking in a dram or two!
