‘It is a unique opportunity to showcase the hotel, the Roxburghe Estates, the Borders and Scotland.  Traditionally, journalists from all over the world travel to attend this type of event creating a major boost for the local economy.  The knock-on effect for Scotland is significant as images of the vehicles as they travel throughout the Borders will appear in international titles for many months to come.

‘We have worked closely with the team at Land Rover to ensure their guests enjoy the best of our Scottish hospitality.’

Land Rover comes to The Roxburghe Hotel

The Roxburghe Hotel in Kelso played host to the global launch of two major new models from leading vehicle manufacturer, Land Rover. Around 600 national and international journalists attended the drive event from over 35 countries around the globe, over a six week period.

The Scottish Borders presented the ideal location, as they offered the perfect backdrop against which to put the 2010 Range Rover Sport and LR Discovery 4 through their paces. When selecting the location Land Rover also had to consider a multitude of practical points, such as access to an international airport and the ability to host excellent on and off-road driving. Scotland however, remains a traditional favourite for the company, having hosted other major media drive events on two previous occasions – 2001 and 2003.
Land Rover chose the Roxburghe Hotel as its small and intimate style lent itself perfectly to the ‘house party’ feel which they were keen to create.  Journalists would also have the unique opportunity to have afternoon tea at Floors Castle, private home of the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe; all part of the Roxburghe Estates.
George Mack, General Manager of The Roxburghe Hotel, said: ‘This will be one of the highest profile car launches this year and we’re obviously delighted that Land Rover selected The Roxburghe as the venue.  Their guests have exclusive use of our hotel and will also enjoy fishing and clay pigeon shooting.

‘We have worked very closely with the team at Land Rover to ensure their guests enjoy the best of our Scottish hospitality.’

The Roxburghe Hotel and Scotland were selected after Land Rover looked at other venues as far apart as Portugal and the Baltic States.
